Film-maker and illustrator Quentin Jones teams up with Indian-American jeweller Waris Ahluwalia in this exclusive stop-motion film for mytheresa.com. The film pays homage to The Plummage Necklace and features Waris in a pastel world of geometric shapes and floral blooms, which dance along to an electronic soundtrack.
To coincide with the launch of our latest exhibition, 'SHOWcabinet: Prosthetics', filmmaker Marie Schuller collaborated with designer Una Burke to create a mesmerising fashion film. Inspired by Burke's interest in movement and restriction, the short sees her intricate armour-like leather creations transformed into human-size puppets that dance and writhe eerily before the camera.
Inspired by her work with Reptile Youth, Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie selected rising artistic talent - and SHOWstudio discovery - Rei Nadal to direct the film for the band's latest release. Inspired by the pointed lyrics of '2013', the full nine minute film unpicks themes of dissent, unrest and anger using the signature dark yet romantic visuals that Nadal promoted on her Tumblr.
To coincide with our 'SHOWcabinet: Prosthetics' exhibition, SHOWstudio teams with recent LCF MA Fashion Artefact graduate Annelie Gross on a pioneering film made using the Xbox Kinect as a 3D scanner. The work features Gross' 'Defects' series, which draws on her background growing up in a family of orthopedic technicians and prostheses constructors to explore notions of restriction and distortion.
